Ten Hag left Man Utd – Manchester United have sacked Erik ten Hag. The decision, effective immediately, will see the Dutchman depart from Old Trafford, with his compatriot and former assistant, Ruud van Nistelrooy, taking over as interim manager. Van Nistelrooy, a former United striker, was part of Ten Hag’s coaching team and will manage alongside the current staff until a permanent head coach is appointed.
Ten Hag joined Manchester United on April 21, 2022, with a contract set to last until 2025 and an option to extend for another year. Despite poor results, the club gave Ten Hag more chances than many of his predecessors.
During his tenure, Ten Hag led Manchester United to two trophies: the 2023 League Cup and the 2024 FA Cup.
The club posted a statement on social media confirming the news: “Erik ten Hag is no longer Manchester United’s first-team manager.
“Erik joined the club in April 2022 and managed to secure two trophies – the 2023 League Cup and the 2024 FA Cup.
“We thank Erik for everything he accomplished during his time here and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
“Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as an interim solution and will work with the current coaching staff until we find a new head coach.
