Real Madrid players ‘agree 10% pay cut’

Affected financially by the coronavirus crisis, Real Madrid has reached an agreement with its players for a new pay cut.

The coronavirus has led to a drop in income for football clubs with, in particular, the ban on supporters in stadiums. To cope with this crisis, Real Madrid asked its players to accept a 10% pay cut for the second part of the 2019-2020 season, which was played entirely behind closed doors. The players had all given their consent.

This decrease also concerned the leaders, the members of the staff as well as the players of Castilla, the reserve of the Madrid club.

But with the health crisis continuing and matches being kept behind closed doors, Real Madrid still need to tighten their belts. Sports daily Brand reveals that Real Madrid has asked its players to accept a new pay cut, for the first part of the 2020-2021 season, again by 10%.
