Mohamed Salah declared fit for Egypt opener
Egypt boss Hector Cuper has suggested that Mohamed Salah will play some part of the team’s World Cup opener with Uruguay.
Last month, Salah sustained a shoulder injury during Liverpool’s defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final and it had been expected that the winger would be out of contention for Egypt’s first game in Russia.
However, Cuper has claimed that Salah is ‘almost 100% certain’ to feature against Uruguay in Yekaterinberg on Friday afternoon.
At a press conference, Cuper said: “Salah is doing very well indeed, he’s recovered very quickly. We’ll see how it goes today. I can almost assure you 100% he will play, barring any unforeseen factors at the last moment.”
Salah has scored 33 goals for his country, with the remainder of the 23-man squad in Russia having only netted 33 times between them.
