Manchester United to confirm Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this week?
Manchester United are on the verge of making Ole Gunnar Solskjaer their new permanent manager, according to a report.
A number of the Red Devils’ first-team stars have called on club chiefs to appoint the Norwegian on a full-time basis following his successful trial as caretaker boss.
Solskjaer was brought in as a stopgap following December’s sacking of Jose Mourinho, but his positive return – 14 wins from 19 matches – has made him favourite to land one of the most sought-after jobs in world football.
The Daily Mail claims that it may be just a matter of days before the iconic striker is confirmed as United’s new manager, giving them time to focus on the summer transfer window.
United lost 2-0 to Arsenal and 2-1 to Wolverhampton Wanderers ahead of the international break, in the Premier League and FA Cup respectively, but executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward still feels Solskjaer is the right man to take the club forward.
Next up for the Premier League giants is a home meeting with Watford on Saturday.
