Man United beat Tottenham in Shanghai

Manchester United beat Tottenham 2-1 in Shanghai, making it four wins on the spin after previous victories over Perth Glory, Leeds United and Inter Milan.

The Red Devils took the lead through Anthony Martial before Lucas Moura levelled for the north London giants.

Manchester United struck a late winner through Angel Gomes, ensuring Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side continue their winning run.

And the victory shows the Red Devils have three weapons in attack that could cause defences problems next season.

The first of those is Martial.

Solskjaer recently backed the France international to improve, saying: “Anthony can be a world class forward. I think if you followed Anthony the way he has come back to pre season, his attitude is spot on.

“There’s been a few instances that you can see a new Anthony in the way he works for the team. He’s always had the talent, the quality but his work rate is improving.

“I think he has always got the quality and talent, so I expect him, and Marcus, to be even better than last season.

“Anthony had a top season when he came, I expect we will see a better Anthony next season.”

He looks unshackled in a central role and that could be the key to him realising his potential.

A second weapon is Daniel James.

The former Swansea star’s blistering pace caused Tottenham issues all afternoon, with the Wales international looking every bit the part of a Red Devils star.

United were at their best with James, Martial and Mason Greenwood in attack.

And Martial appears to be living up his billing with the goal his second from four outings.

But the third weapon is Angel Gomes.

The 18-year-old has talent in abundance and is finally showing his ability for the first team.

Gomes has made a name for himself at academy level.

And United will be hoping to coax the best from their teenage talent, who is likely to feature prominently under Solskjaer next season.
