Fritz secured his semi-final spot by defeating Belgium’s David Goffin 6-3, 6-4. This will be the first time Fritz has advanced beyond the third round in Shanghai, setting up an exciting clash with Djokovic.
Djokovic, who has now reached his 78th Masters 1,000 semi-final, praised Mensik for his strong performance. Even at 37, Djokovic showed he’s still competing at the highest level with plenty of drive. The victory keeps Djokovic firmly in pursuit of his remarkable 100th ATP title.
