Liverpool boss Arne Slot has issued an update on Ibrahima Konate after the defender hobbled off the pitch after his side had dispatched Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The France international was in inspired form at the heart of the Reds’ defence but fought back tears on the pitch as he received attention from Liverpool’s medical staff after the final whistle.
Konate played the full 90 minutes alongside Virgil van Dijk as the Reds continued their 100 per cent record in this season’s Champions League.
Goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo were enough to secure a 2-0 victory, with Kylian Mbappe and Mohamed Salah both missing penalties during the contest.
Liverpool lost right-back Conor Bradley to an injury late into the match after the 21-year-old had enjoyed a fine night in club colours.
And Slot spoke about Bradley and Konate as he addressed the media on Thursday ahead of his team’s Premier League showdown with Manchester City at the weekend. “They are still being assessed so it’s difficult to see how they are,” explained the Dutchman.
