Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker is sidelined with a hamstring injury and won’t return until at least mid-November. The Brazilian star sustained the injury during Liverpool’s recent 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace, leaving the pitch after 79 minutes and being replaced by Vitezslav Jaros.
Alisson’s absence comes at a crucial time for Liverpool, who have a challenging schedule ahead. The club expects him back only after the international break from November 11-19. Until then, Liverpool will face tough opponents, including Chelsea, Arsenal, Brighton, and Aston Villa in the Premier League. They also have key Champions League clashes against RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen.
In the meantime, Caoimhin Kelleher is set to fill in for Alisson. Kelleher missed the Crystal Palace game due to illness but is expected to step in as Liverpool’s starting keeper. Liverpool manager Arne Slot confirmed that Kelleher is the team’s clear second-choice goalkeeper during this critical period.
“It’s clear that Kelleher is our number two,” Slot said, signaling the Irishman’s role as Alisson’s backup while the Brazilian recovers.
